EASIEST BIBLE GAME EVER!
Looking for a way to incorporate more Bible time into
your homeschool day? This is a quick & easy way to do just that!
It’s so simple, it’s almost silly.
Really.
But it has been a great way to connect with my kiddos
in the morning during breakfast. Bonus…it challenges them and gets those
thinking muscles going.
Everybody knows about YouVersion, right? The Bible
app, yup, that’s the one. Go download that if you don’t have it already.
Open it up and check out the verse of the day.
Now, when you’re sitting at the table having breakfast
with your kiddos bring up the verse of the day. In our house it goes something
like this…
Say the verse of the day is Matthew 7:13-14.
It goes something like this…
“Okay, verse of the day. You ready?” (my kiddos are
old enough now that they like being the one in charge of the verse. It’s a fun
switch-up when they do it)
Now is about the time one of them will ask…”Old or New
Testament?” I’ll answer “New.”
Then they will guess a book of the bible from the New
Testament. We will go back and forth until they get the correct book of the Bible.
Sometimes I’ll add a hint in if they need it.
Once the book is correctly found, we move to the
chapter of the verse. They will make their first guess. Let’s say they pick chapter
1 and chapter 5 for their first guesses. I will respond with “Too low.” That tells
them the verse is in a higher chapter. So, they’ll continue guessing in this
manner until they get the chapter correct.
Lastly, we move to the verse(s). This is done in much
the same manner as guessing the chapter. Narrowing in on the verse until they
have it correct. It will often have a few back and forths of “Too low” or “Too
high” or “One too high, the other too low” kind of responses to help guide
them.
Once the verse is found, then we read it aloud.
It’s a super simple, but fun & effective way to
get some Bible time.
An extra bonus…it gets their brains thinking. Critical
thinking skills for the win!
